University Center

The Donna E. and Delbert J. McLaughlin University Center was built in 2012 with the environment in mind and earned the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver certification of a building in Lenawee County. To be LEED silver certified, building debris and waste materials were recycled during construction. Also, low VOC paint and carpet are used throughout as well as occupancy sensors. Across from the Hub office is a reusable water bottle fountain, which reduces the amount of water bottles thrown away. Inside the dining hall, you won't find trays, but only plates, bowls, and silverware. This reduces the use of excess plastics and water to clean the extra dishes.

Chartwell's

Chartwell's, the company who provides the meals in the dining hall, is actively making efforts to be environmentally friendly. As of Fall 2017, they are now collecting their pre-consumer waste, such as egg shells and vegetable scraps, to be composted at the Adrian Dominican Sisters' Mother House. Chartwell's also periodically donates non-perishables to the Salvation Army.
